Learning Support Programs

The Archdiocese also has regional learning support programs at both the elementary and high school level for students with diagnosed learning disabilities. Students in the Archdiocese's learning support programs are challenged to learn self-acceptance, self-discipline, cooperation skills, consistent work habits, and become responsible members in the community.

Elementary sites
St. Dominic, Northeast Philadelphia
St. Martin of Tours, Northeast Philadelphia
Our Lady of Fatima, Secane, PA (Delaware Co.)

The elementary learning support programs are designed to help students who have a diagnosed specific learning disability in the areas of listening, thinking, speaking, reading, writing, spelling, and math calculations.  Children who participate in elementary learning support programs at these schools are "mainstreamed" (put in a regular class) for all subjects except reading and math.  Specialized learning support teachers help students to learn strategies to help them succeed in all subject areas, and provide any accommodations students need.  The tuition for the 2011-2012 school year is $5,300 payable over a 10-month period beginning in July.

High School sites
Archbishop Ryan High School, Northeast Philadelphia
Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School, Drexel Hill, PA

Students in the high school learning support programs are rostered into regular high school classes except for one class, a "Learning Strategies" period (considered a one-credit course each year).  During this period, students work with a learning support teacher to master specific strategies to help them succeed in the classroom.  The tuition for the 2011-2012 school year is $5,600 plus additional learning support program cost of $1,400 = $7,000.  Non-Catholic students add an additional $1,150.
