Seventh grade students at St. Stanislaus Parish School will host a prayer service for the entire school and veterans from the parish on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. The students will sing songs, recite poems and present each veteran in attendance with a St. Sebastian medal. St. Sebastian is the patron saint of soldiers.
Students were also asked to collect photos and stories from veterans in the community. These photos will be posted on a wall of fame in the school and a special slideshow of the pictures will be shown during the event.
Following the prayer service, the entire school and the veterans will walk to a nearby cemetery where two students will play “Taps.” The students will then enjoy lunch with the veterans.
